                                      PIANO NOTES

When moving from one tone or note to another, we call the distance between the two notes an interval/Examples:Using the basic C scale,

Unison – From C to same note C.

Second – From C to D, Side by side notes are written beside each other so they can both be seen.

   Third – C to E.

   Fourth – C to F.

   Fifth – C to G.

   Sixth – C to A.

   Seventh – C to B.

B is also known as the leading tone

Octave – low C to next higher C.

Same interval moves up or down.

Become familiar with the sound of each interval. The characteristic sound of each interval is similar in each key because of the number of whole steps and half steps involved in each interval.
