"Pen Poised To Write"
“Pen Poised To Write”

Gail Norris, Writer and Editor

US is basically ME (pictured) at least for now!

My undergraduate major was Music Education. I taught classroom music and high school choir in Virginia, Minnesota, Florida, Arizona and general music as well as music theory in Sydney, Australia.

HOWEVER, I have enough English undergraduate and graduate course credits to qualify for a minor in English, have taught English and Reading to Hmong Immigrants in Minneapolis and English, Reading, and Speech  at St. Petersburg Junior College, Clearwater Campus, Florida.

I wrote a Thesis for my Masters Degree in Supervision from the College of William and Mary. My ten years of entrepreneurial work has taught me Business English. I feel qualified to offer editing and other writing services to people who need help with English writing.

Please view the templates provided and make your own judgment. We hope you will try our writing and editing services. Your first document is FREE of charge!  We strive to keep our charges minimal and competitive!

A PLEASANT AFTERNOON

by J. Gail Kipp-Norris

I still appreciate the warmth of a July day in the Appalachian Mountains of western Pennsylvania when the land is baked by a brilliant sun. My cousin and her friend walked with me into the cool green lushness of the forest glade and felt instant relief from the burning heat.
As we leisurely sauntered, the cool darkness of the woods did not completely abate the fiery incandescence. It was still hot, although the direct heat of the sun was filtered by the greenery, which afforded some welcomed respite.
Strolling through the woody glade, the other two girls chattered about what game we would play, after it got cool enough. My thoughts centered on the delightful calmness and serenity I was experiencing.
My two tomboy companions were merely incidental to me at that moment. I paid little attention as they ran off, one chasing the other. I knew we would reunite eventually.
I took pleasure when I reached the meadow alone. AaLONE I could lie in the tall grass, watch the azure sky with the billowy clouds like white cotton candy.
Frothy white clouds made the blue sky more vast and serene. Their attractive shapes were mine to watch, lying in the once tall grass, cropped short by the cows that grazed off in the distance. The cows looked contented, nibbling on grass and swishing their tails to keep the flies off them. This scene of the peaceful cows added to the blissful tranquility of that afternoon.
Fortunately, there was enough breeze to make lying in the roasting sun bearable. The absolute pleasantness of the day made it tolerable! I had no thoughts of going home or of missing my two noisy companions. The only sounds I heard were two girls crashing and chasing around the woods and the faint tinkling of a cowbell.

My thoughts and feelings melded attending to the cerulean blue of the sky and the fleecy white clouds, I tried to decide what each one looked like as they created various shapes. With each cloud rolling across the sky, I saw animals that made me laugh or beautiful images that caused tears.
My imagination turned the clouds into what I learned in school or read in books. The grass smelled sweet. Its roots tasted nutty. The breeze at times blew a slightly unpleasant aroma from the cows.
Frothy clouds, brilliant sunshine, mixed shadows, varied thoughts are all part of that special place to remember. That July afternoon in the meadow remains a favorite part of me.

YOUR EYES REVISITED

By JGKipp

Your eyes…….
Ever before me;
Laughing sometimes
A little sad, perhaps
From all you wish you had
And never will.
Angry, incredulous
Unbelieving, sympathetic,
Impetuous, yearning……
Many adjectives could be used to describe
The azure stillness, the tender warmth of
Your eyes
Could anyone call them callous?
They don’t understand or know
The person behind them.
Your sensitive nature,
The unending love and loyalty
Given to those fortunate enough
To have you care for them.
God is gracious:
He has let you see me through
Your eyes.
